TRENDS:   For most of you, the effects of the planetary aspects at the end of last month probably have you in a state of flux for several days more. Bear in mind that when dates are given as to exact planetary hits, that they are only approximations, since much depends on one’s natal chart. Effects may be felt days before or after the exact event.

Energies are still intense during the first week with the Sun (energy)  squaring (challenging) Mars (drive/ambition),  conjunct (fusing) with Pluto (change) and opposing Jupiter (expansion). Think before taking action because it will probably be reaction. That is Week 1’s challenge: Energy assertion toward change and expansion. Mercury (the mental process) also opposes Jupiter and sextiles Saturn (restriction), teaching us that less may be more, so one may need to let go in order to expand.

We may need to curtail in order to gain a more realistic assessment of our plans during Week 2, as both Sun and Venus (valuing) are making favorable aspects to Saturn (limitation), so it’s a great time to set up a disciplined goal of some kind.  Also, Saturn represents our destiny – what we want to create in the world, so concentrating on long term plans and putting into practice what is valued as important is highlighted. It is time to build structure in our lives.

The Full Moon in Cancer begins Week 3, with Venus squaring Mars and Mercury sextiling (opportunity) Uranus (rebellion/diversity). Tension and opposition to/from conservative forces may be challenging but there are opportunities to find a way out of any situation by figuring out new and unexpected ways to make things work. Think in new and different ways. Break the pattern.

At certain times of the month, there will be planets in all four Cardinal signs creating a Grand Cross, which generally indicates intense periods of growth and release if one just stays centered.. In Week 4, energies shift to a harmonious balance with Mercury and Mars in trine (120 degrees) so pressure should lift; or a way to work around it will be figured out. The New Moon in Aquarius on the 30th brings Venus Stationary Direct (she’s been retrograde all month) and Jupiter opposes Pluto. Venus SD usually brings out extreme partying and socializing, though Venus in Capricorn may have a sobering effect, it may still make for intensity in social situations. Jupiter opposing Pluto can be a choice between purging and expanding. The last time Jupiter and Pluto opposed each other was August 7th of this year. At that time, there may have been a release or an increase of something in your life. Now you should see the effects of that choice and the benefits derived from it this time around. But mostly, you will see these effects on an internal level, as both planets are retrograde. They will meet again in direct motion in mid-April of 2014, when things will tend to manifest externally. We will be able to see the fruition of long term plans in our external realities at that time.

Final analysis for this month brings to mind the Clash song, “Should I Stay Or Should I Go?” Its a balancing act between optimism and pessimism; restriction and expansion; fantasy and reality; feeling and practicality. It is best to see this as a month of strategy, planning and learning to find freedom in middle ground amidst extremes.

KEY WORDS: Structure, Discipline, Middle Ground

ARIES:  Aries is one of four signs comprising the Grand Cross. Partnership issues of all kinds will challenge the status quo with a demand to honor one’s heart and make alliances where pressures may exert opposing forces. You are right to embrace the unique individuality of yourself and those around you. Do not let the unusual dissuade you because of opposition from others. They may not share your inspirational ideas, but be patient, they’ll come around. The Moon is in Aries on the 6th, so center yourself for the coming month.

TAURUS:  Taurus is in favorable position with many planets in a similar Earth sign, so harmony and long term growth are favored. Meaning, set into motion all those long range goals you think about but haven’t acted upon. Others around you may not know what they want, but you need to have a plan, a structure, so it’s a good time to make one. What do you really want out of life and what do you want to give in exchange? The Moon is in Taurus on the 8th. Get grounded.

GEMINI:  Geminians could be feeling quite powerful this month if they make the attempt to discipline themselves to really go after what they want. You will find along the way helpful ideas from others, though you may not be able to figure out how to practically manifest them immediately. By the end of the month, you should have the answers. The Moon is in Gemini on the 11th. It is a good time to advance your strategy.

CANCER: With faith and optimism, Cancerians will meet the opposition of four planets in opposing Capricorn, because Jupiter, the planet of faith and expansion, is still in your sign. Relationship issues abound.  If others should try to oppose or block you, come from a place of the heart and try to understand where they’re coming from. Remember, everyone must strive for being together, while still remaining individuals apart. There’s a Full Moon in Cancer on the 15th when self-illumination can be expected.

LEO: Leos may be residing in a bit of uncertainty this month since four planets are quincunxing (150 degrees – mystery/the unexplainable) your sign from Capricorn, but by the end of the month there should be more clarity as to which way things will go. The Moon is in Leo on the 16th, but it’s best to wait until the latter part of the month before making any binding decisions. Energies will shift to a more harmonious place.

VIRGO: Virgos can cruise through the first half of the month enjoying the opportunities that come your way for long term growth and self-advancement, due to a cluster of planets in earthy Capricorn.

In the latter half of the month, take command where Virgo talents are needed and set order to chaos. You have the wherewithal and it would be most helpful in your world. Focus on long term growth in both work and home fronts. The Moon is in Virgo on the 18th. A great time to get geared up.

LIBRA:  Libra is one of the four arms of the Grand Cross taking place this month. Discipline, structure and form, in terms of how to carry through on your desires in the best possible way, is highlighted. Energies will challenge you but it will help hone your vision, and even downright negativity can be helpful if it illuminates something you might have overlooked that needs attention. Mars is in your sign this month, so you should have plenty of drive and ambition to accomplish your goals and to understand your desires. The Moon is in Libra on the 21st, a respite to pull inward and contemplate. By the end of the month, any conflicts should resolve nicely.

SCORPIO: For Scorpios, opportunities abound to derive your life’s mission statement. Sounds big, and it is, because there are four planets in favorable aspect to your Sun sign, and they are aspects of opportunity. So new possibilities should strewn your path and you need to make decisions. But it is best to do that at the end of the month, so in the meantime, plot and plan! The Last Quarter Moon is in Scorpio on the 23rd, so thoughtful action is in order.

SAGITTARIUS: Sag’s are out of the line of fire from the Grand Cross taking place in Cardinal signs.  Mutable Sag will find it easy to fulfill their desires this month with the usual good will and optimism which melts even the hardest hearts. Sports and exercise programs may be the highlight of the month. It’s a great time to develop structure, discipline and the refining of skills of any kind. So many planets in neighboring Capricorn will help keep you focused. The Moon is in Sag on the 25th. Take a brief respite and get ready for the next lap.

CAPRICORN: Here comes Capricorn, tugging at the world to give it discipline, form and structure. Capricorns should be able to move mountains this month, with four planets in your sign. There are always challenges to moving mountains, however, especially with a Grand Cross (4+ planets at 90 degree angles) of which Capricorn is a part. But the work must go on despite conflicts from lack of cooperation or other partnership issues. The key is to do a little appeasing and ease up on rigidity. Meaning, discipline and structure with consideration for feelings/nurturance; and partnership with consideration for individuality. Don’t be afraid to get rid of or release what doesn’t work or is no longer necessary. It’s part of the plan. It’s a New Moon in Capricorn on the 1st. Plant seeds for the coming month, and year, as it is your Birthday!!

AQUARIUS: Aquarians are probably still reeling from the end of last month, so it’s best to favor limitation, restriction and rest, rather than trying to do too much. Mercury enters Aquarius on the 11th, so fresh ways of thinking and new plans and ideas should occupy you. The Sun goes into Aquarius on the 19th and on the 29th makes favorable aspects to your ruling planet, Uranus. These aspects may create sudden opportunities out of the blue. Let loose. There are two Moons in Aquarius this month: on the 2nd and again, a New Moon in Aquarius on the 30th. Plant wish seeds for the coming year.

PISCES: Pisceans will be given ample opportunity to start any projects or plans, since opportunistic aspects from four planets in Capricorn provide a chance for Piscean dreams to manifest into reality. You are aided by Jupiter’s harmonious, optimistic trine in watery Cancer, which signifies that the right path is to create what your feelings pull towards. And, you are aided as well by Saturn in Scorpio, which gives you structure and organization to develop a strategy for achievement. The Moon is in Pisces two times this month: on the 4th and the 31st. Find the pearl inside your oyster.
