Trends: We move into the time of year when religion, philosophy and spirit are at their zenith during the holiday season. It is the domain of socially conscious Sagittarius, which rules the ability to bring spirit to earth and to give it a place in society by creating laws and rules which govern moral, ethical and religious codes of behavior for the masses. The interesting symbol for Sagittarius (whose glyph represents an archer’s arrow) is the extraordinary creature known as a Centaur. The Greek immortal, Chiron, in particular. A being consisting of the body of a horse and the upper torso of a man – physical earthly power combined with abstract principles, ideas and beliefs. Chiron taught philosophy, arts and healing to humanity. Although travel, fun, sports, athletics and adventure are all ruled by Sagittarius, on a deeper level it is the bringing forth of intellectual structures that teach a moral foundation and codes of behavior by which we must live. The fiery, mutable, active nature of Sagittarius expands into unknown territory, whether this be physical or mental journeys. Sagittarius confers maximum physical mobility and agility. The archer’s arrow naturally aims toward the future; however, this can create the dysfunctional side of this sign. Sagittarians may focus only on the future, making the ends justify the means, sometimes disregarding others’ feelings and viewpoints along the way. They ignore the individual for the sake of the conglomerate, and can become so self-absorbed in their process that they become dogmatic, opinionated and narrow-minded. In addition, their expansionary natures, if unchecked, may be focused on the carnal appetites, making them lustful, gluttonous and overextended to the point of illness or exhaustion. They must learn to manage their expansionary tendencies and pay attention to cause and effect. Their mission is to rise above the earthly ambition and to bring Universal Truth to humanity, uniting the lower nature with spiritual, abstract codes of behavior.

It is fortuitous that the majority of planetary aspects are harmonious this month, because once again, those far-reaching planets, Uranus and Pluto are making another exact square – the tenth exact pass in this planetary dance that began in 2010 and will end, after two more passes next year. (Please see Trends for May and November of 2013 and April 2014 Astro Forecasts for more information). Mercury and Venus will be involved with these two game changers in the latter half of the month, Venus on the 20th and Mercury on the 24th. They will both conjunct Pluto and square Uranus, calling for us to embrace change and release the new and different. Five planets are changing signs. The Sun, Mercury and Venus are all entering consolidating, realistic Capricorn. Mars enters the radical sign of Aquarius, and slower moving, conservative Saturn enters expansionary Sagittarius. In addition, two planets are changing direction: Uranus goes Stationary Direct, accentuating the rebellious and innovative; and Jupiter turns Stationary Retrograde, calling for us to expand ourselves, our capabilities and our future prospects. If it seems like a mixed bag between conservativeness and radicalism, it is. Consolidation to bring about freedom – downsizing to achieve a lessening of burdensome responsibility are how these energies can work together, as one example.

Week 1 kicks off with the Sun and Mercury making long-term growth aspects to Uranus. Mars enters Aquarius (Uranus’ sign), so the aspects are asking us to embrace the unusual, new and liberating influences of this radical planet. Expect the unexpected. Accept the overthrow of the old order of things. There’s a Full Moon on the 6th in Gemini, helping us to understand different perspectives and to gain insight into the higher spiritual truths of Sagittarius. It is doubtful that we will go too far, too fast this week due to Mars making opportunistic aspects to conservative Saturn, so transition should be a comfortable experience.

Week 2 the Sun conjoins with Mercury, fusing together our will and mental powers. The second week departs from the Uranian upheaval of the first week, and replaces it with spiritual truths, philosophical perspectives and contemplative insight concerning our values and ideals. It is more an intellectual week as Venus enters cool Capricorn and Jupiter turns Stationary Retrograde, making us turn inward for a bit of soul searching. A long-term, expansionary mode is to be expected since the Sun and Mercury both trine Jupiter that week.

In Week 3, Uranus squares Pluto on the 15th. Bear in mind, exact aspects carry over into several days following the exact hit for the quicker moving planets, and several weeks following for the slower moving. We will most likely see unusual situations causing and promoting change, either causing us to let go or reform outmoded structures in our lives. Change is good. Around the 20th, energies intensify, when Venus squares Uranus and conjuncts Pluto, yielding opportunities for sudden transformation of what we valued and the possibility of intense, unexpected emotions. Use your intuitive insight to navigate these turbulent waters, since Mercury is making opportunistic aspects to Neptune, so these powers are heightened. On the 21st, Uranus turns Stationary Direct, after being sextiled (opportunity) by Mars on the 20th, creating impulsiveness, will power, and unique, decisive action.

Week 4 the New Moon in Capricorn on the 21st should help us to solidify and give structure to our newly created realities. On the 24th and 25th, Mercury follows Venus’ path, squaring Uranus and conjuncting Pluto. Our thinking processes are able to penetrate and understand our personal reformations and the deep forces at work. Saturn entering Sagittarius on the 23rd, helps us see our realities from a spiritual perspective; the transformations we have been through are for a greater good. This understanding of our evolutionary process concludes our month.

Key Words: Evolution, Upheaval, Revelation

ARIES: Arians will be challenged this month by the Uranus/Pluto square, since Uranus, the planet that rules freedom and enlightened mental processes, is still in Aries. Maintain and honor your unique individuality when conservative pressures (Pluto in Capricorn) challenge you. In addition, your ruling planet, Mars, shifts into Aquarius on the 4th. Uranus is Aquarius’ ruler, so rebellion, upheaval and accepting the new and unusual is recommended. Capricorn wants to maintain the status quo; Aries wants to strike out on its own individual path, and this needs to be honored. The Moon is in Aries on the 1st, and again, the First Quarter Moon on the 28th, so you will be able to see an entire lunar cycle transpire. Pivotal days are around the 7th, 14th and the 21st. The 14th should be enlightening to you when the Moon is in Libra, so you should be able to see what this cycle is all about.

TAURUS: With Uranus in your Twelfth House of Destiny and Karma, events beyond your control will teach you spiritual lessons to transform you to a new level of enlightenment; as well as a better understanding of the role you play in society and the culture. In Week 2, your ruling planet, Venus, enters Capricorn, calling on you to get serious and focus on work that you wish to accomplish. Being an “empire builder” is favored at this time, since Jupiter’s expansionary tendencies are active. On the 20th, the full effect of the Uranus/Pluto square will most likely be most prominent, when Venus conjuncts Pluto and squares Uranus. This aspect’s energies have been manifesting both several days before and after. Feel the power of love and the potency of your creativity. Keep your individualism and your spirit of adventure and this will be a most productive, profitable and prolific time. The Moon is in Taurus on the 3rd and the 30th, so an entire lunar cycle will take place in one month for you. Pivotal days will be around the 9th and the 17th.

GEMINI: It’s a Full Moon in your sign on the 6th, Gemini, so some form of self-enlightenment should be given to you. Your intuition should be strong at this time. You can communicate your thoughts and views to others with favorable success – the best time, around the 12th. And around the 16th, Mercury, your ruling planet, enters Capricorn, giving your ambition a boost and the discipline and patience to bring goals into manageable proportions. On the 24th and 25th, Mercury enters into the realm of the Uranus/Pluto square, conferring a bit of brilliance concerning the best way to make changes; into the New Year, you should have the drive and willpower to manifest them. There are several planets in your opposite sign, Sagittarius, in the first half of the month, so relationship issues will most likely be prominent. Remember that you are part of a greater spiritual force for change, and try not to be over-controlling with others.

CANCER: Cancerians will most likely be immersed in issues dealing with career and business partnerships. Your need to come from an emotional center may be met with cold opposition, so try to intellectually connect and network with others. It is a good month to expand your material possessions or resources, especially through work and the sharing of joint resources. Seek harmony in the home by enhancing its environment in some new way. You’ve been a participant in the Uranus/Pluto square for the last four years, so by now you should be aware of its process in your life. The moon is in Cancer on the 7th, following the Full Moon, providing you with heightened vision to help you better navigate the intensity of energies in the latter half of the month.

LEO: An opportune time for Leos to exert their wills and/or free themselves from restrictive situations is around the 4th. Around the 6th, being an individual with expansionary tendencies favors growth. The 8th confers mental stamina and insight on the day that Jupiter turns Stationary Retrograde in your sign, helping you to see where certain limitations are unnecessary. Positively structuring and organizing your reality needs to be valued, especially in the areas of work and creative self-expression. The second week, particularly around the 12th – 14th are favorable days yielding long-term growth in whatever area of your life you are focused on; but bear in mind that the Uranus/Pluto square is the following day and that may cause some unusual, unexpected situations for the next several weeks. Go with the flow and except or create change to bring about the fulfillment of your ambitions. You may try to hold on to certain reality forms, but around the 17th – 20th, you will see the wisdom of letting them go. The Moon goes into Leo on the 9th, so for the following two days it will help you get in touch with your inspiration and true feelings.

VIRGO: With three planets shifting into Capricorn, the challenges that you were faced with last month should ease up, especially after the illuminating insight released after the Full Moon in Gemini on the 6th. Your ruling planet, Mercury conjoins with the Sun on the 8th, giving you mental stamina and willpower to get difficult jobs done. Don’t be afraid to try new ways of doing things. Moral and ethical issues around the 12th will create a contemplative mentality. Maintain high ideals and let karma take care of the rest. You may find yourself feeling surprisingly relieved if you would be willing to discuss your views and idea and listen to those of others. Aspects favor letting yourself be heard, and working on a give-and-take mentality when it comes to both business and personal relationships. The 25th highlights relationship issues of dominance and control (Mercury conjoins with Pluto).

LIBRA: Opportunities for communication, writing and teaching are highlighted in the first half of the month. In addition, aspects favor long-term growth in fulfilling goals and ambitions, making new acquaintances and furthering your career. A desire for freedom and overcoming the old order of things to make way for the new, are natural consequences of the fortuitous aspects of inner and outer planets. When Uranus squares Pluto on the 15th, and the Sun, Mercury and Venus all shift into Capricorn, this will release any confusion and uncertainty you may have felt, though you may be challenged by conservative views, restrictions and limitations. Sudden unexpected situations around the 20th may be an opportunistic call for decisive action concerning business and intimate partnerships. The Moon enters Libra on the 14th, the day before the powerful Uranus/Pluto square. Pay attention to your feelings when seeking solutions to conflicts, even though practicality may challenge them.

SCORPIO: Scorpio’s focus in the beginning of the month will be on material resources and the home front. There are harmonious aspects between work and finances, so those longed-for possessions may finally be acquired. On the 15th, Uranus squares your ruling planet, Pluto. Although you have probably been feeling the effects of this aspect for the past several weeks, work and communication issues may come to a head. Around the 20th and 25th, clarity concerning your desire for change and the mental strategy to make those transformations will
come about. The Moon is in Scorpio on the 17th, helping you to ground yourself to figure out the reformation that ultimately calls you.

SAGITTARIUS: It’s your birthday month, Sag, and with Sun, Mercury and Venus all in your First House, making favorable aspects to Uranus, a new and different kind of celebration is in order. Fun, recreation and sports activities are highlighted. Be aggressive in communicating your wants and needs. Thoughts on how you want to “be” in the world, from a philosophical perspective should be given consideration. Expand your knowledge through higher learning and the seeking of spiritual truths. Saturn enters Sagittarius on the 23rd and will be in your sign for more than two years. It’s a time for life’s lessons, giving you a reality check to make sure that you are headed in the right direction, which is, to be true to your principles, beliefs and ideals. The Moon goes into Sagittarius on the 19th, helping to ground you when aspects between Uranus and Pluto create unexpected situations around the 20th.

CAPRICORN: You will most likely feel the transformational energies of Pluto in your sign, (especially around the 15th) when new and unexpected situations enter your life. As Pluto is a force for change, and Uranus demands that we accept the new and different, your thoughts and values must embrace these concepts. Both love and understanding are powerful forces, and with Mars in Uranus’s sign, Aquarius, sextiling this unorthodox planet, you can expect the energy shifts to provide you with illuminating insights and decisive willpower. The Sun, Mercury and Venus will all be in Capricorn in the 4th week, providing you with a solid foundation to deal with these super-physical energies. Your ruling planet, Saturn, shifts into Sagittarius for a lengthy stay of more than two years, helping you to see and understand reality as an expanding spiritual, Karmic path toward enlightenment. It’s a New Moon in Capricorn on the 21st, so plant thought seeds for a positive future in the coming year.

AQUARIUS: Aquarians should have a rollicking good time this month, with six planets making aspects to your ruling planet, Uranus, and Mars entering Aquarius on the 4th. Your desire for independence is strong. Investigate new and different ways to achieve this. The first and third weeks are powerful, especially with the Uranus/Pluto square happening on the 15th. Energies will probably shift to the strange and unexpected, so embrace the upheaval and enjoy the ride. Around the 3rd and 17th, energies may be challenging, which will demand that you come up with unique and positive solutions. Maintain your freedom and individuality in the face of conservative pressures. Uranus turns Stationary Direct on the 21st, releasing any pent up impulses that need to be honored and expressed. The Moon enters Aquarius on the 23rd, which is a timing factor for the release of new and innovative ideas. Remember to nurture yourself and your feelings. Great days for action are around the 4th and 20th.

PISCES: Although Pisceans will be challenged by the Uranus/Pluto square, like everyone else, aspects from the Sun, Mercury and Venus to your ruling planet, Neptune, are quite favorable and opportunistic. If you make an attempt to pursue your goals and ambitions, bear in mind that material resources may be a bit unstable. Career opportunities are quite probable during the second week. In the 3rd week, avoid manipulation and power plays and try to go with the flow; however, if these pressures are exerted on you, maintain your individuality and don’t back down from the ideals you know to be true. Mars enters your Eleventh House of achievement and success, so begin making plans to bring those long-term goals to fruition in the coming New Year. A conclusion of relationship issues should occur around the Last Quarter Moon in Virgo on the 14th. The Moon is in Pisces on the 25th, fostering sensitivity and mystical insight.
